The TEAS exam is a standard assessment tool that nursing schools utilize to measure entry-level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants for admission purposes. TEAS, is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage. The four sections are timed for a total of 209 minutes (approximately 3.5 hours) and consist of 170 multiple-choice questions.
- Reading - The Reading section covers paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions.
- Math - The Math section includes whole numbers, metric conversions, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportions.
- Science - The Science section includes questions about science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science
- English and Language Usage - The English and Language Usage section include questions about punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling.
What is the minimal acceptable score for admission? Each section is scored individually. A minimum composite score of 54.5% is required for admission in the American School of Nursing and Medical Careers Practical Nursing program.
How many times may I take the exam? Applicants are permitted to take the TEAS exam up to three times within a 6-month period; no sooner than 2 weeks between attempts.
What is the cost? The TEAS exam fee is $75 each time it is taken. The fee is payable by certified check, money order, or credit/debit card. The exam fee is non-refundable. Applicants who miss the scheduled exam date and do not call will be required to pay the full fee in advance in order to reschedule a new testing date.
Do I need to study for the exam? Yes! This is your first step to a rewarding career in nursing! A strategic plan is necessary. To maximize your ability to pass the TEAS on your first attempt, you should plan dedicated study time. There are many resources available to assist you.
Where is the test administered? The TEAS exam is administered at American School of Nursing and Medical Careers, 670 N. Commercial Street, Manchester, NH. Parking is available across the street at the Myrna pay-to-park lot next to Fratello’s Restaurant.
How do I register to take the TEAS? Pre-Registration is required, please schedule your TEAS below. Exams are offered on Fridays at 10am. Please arrive no later than 9:30am on your scheduled exam date.
